The Birth of a Magazine

“Ambassadors of Goodness” … Why the Last Issue?

The magazine Ambassadors of Goodness was dedicated to highlighting Kuwaiti charitable work and its pioneers, extending the vision of the television program of the same name. The idea came from Taleb Muslim, who volunteered as managing editor. Together, we reached out to government institutions, charities, committees, and foundations—more than fifty in total—to cover their activities and interview their leaders. The first issue was successfully published in Ramadan 1427 AH, receiving congratulations from state officials, Kuwaiti embassies abroad, and leaders in the charitable sector.

Challenges in Engagement

For the second issue, we expected charities and committees to provide us with news, information, and photos. Instead, we found ourselves pleading for contributions despite their abundance. Media engagement was weak, despite the publication being free. This revealed the need to raise awareness about the importance of “charitable media,” so that people could learn about the vast projects funded by Kuwaitis inside and outside the country. Yet, over three years and until the last issue in Ramadan, only minimal cooperation was achieved.

Limited Support

We also hoped for sponsorship from national companies to cover basic expenses without profit. Cooperation was disappointing, with only one company stepping forward—worthy of sincere gratitude. Similarly, we expected government institutions, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to subscribe and use the magazine to showcase Kuwait’s charitable work abroad, as urged by the late Emir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Despite contacting all relevant bodies, only the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs responded positively.

Personal Commitment

Despite these challenges, I continued publishing the magazine intermittently, funding it personally out of conviction that charitable work deserved media coverage as a developmental and educational mission. After three years, with no significant progress, I made the difficult decision to end the magazine with the last Ramadan issue. It was a beloved name and a journey filled with pride, discovery, and hardship. Through it, I learned of countless Kuwaiti charitable projects and met unsung heroes who worked silently yet built villages, towns, universities, and hospitals carrying Kuwait’s name worldwide.

Honoring the Contributors

These unknown soldiers also served donors, easing their burden and ensuring their contributions reached those in need. Their sacrifices of time, health, and family life elevated Kuwait’s reputation. They deserve the highest respect. As for the generous benefactors, they were the backbone of charitable success and expansion—may God reward them abundantly.

Words of Gratitude

I extend heartfelt thanks to all who supported this charitable media effort: my dear father, who was a constant source of encouragement; Taleb Muslim, the managing editor; Sabah Al-Yaqub, the charitable and marketing advisor; and contributors such as Salah Al-Kulaib, Abdulilah Al-Mutawa, Zakat House, and the International Mercy Committee.

A Final Appeal

My final call is to the Ministry of Information: adopt charitable media through KUNA, newspapers, radio, and television, so the world may know what Kuwait has given to humanity.
