Statistics
and Figures
The author began his book “Smoking and How to Protect the New Generation
from It” with many statistics and figures about the companies controlling tobacco production in the
world, as well as the volume of global tobacco consumption and the percentage
of smokers. He also reviewed the results of studies and research related to smoking, and its impact on the
health, mood, and psychology of smokers. He further addressed the components of
tobacco substances and many statistics related to the topic.
Commentary
and Analysis
The author continued his book with commentary and analysis on the statistics
and percentages he mentioned, pointing out that most doctors smoke despite
their awareness of the dangers of smoking and its effects. He
noted that all attempts to confront this disease had failed, and even had a
negative impact by increasing the percentage of smokers. The researcher raised
many questions and placed numerous exclamation marks around this issue.
“Smoking
is harmful to health”… Did it Help?
The author proceeded in his book by posing this question: Did the phrase
written on both sides of the tobacco pack — “Smoking is very harmful to
health” — help or harm?
He explained that most smokers are already
aware of the dangers of smoking and do not need such phrases to remind them of
its risks. This led him to pose another question: If scientific facts alone do
not resolve the issue, as evidenced by the high smoking rates among doctors
themselves, then what is the way to resolve the problem?!
The Way
to Solve the Problem
The author proposed a solution to eliminate smoking, stressing that identifying
the psychological aspect is the first step in resolving the problem. The
proposal included many practical steps that could help eradicate smoking. The
author highlighted the crucial role of religious scholars, the media, the
Ministry of Health, sports, and the combined efforts required to create a
healthy, smoke-free society.
Medical
Topics That Must Be Addressed
The author presented a number of medical topics that should be addressed to
smokers using the latest arts of attraction and persuasion, in order to
increase their awareness of the dangers of smoking and its impact on all
aspects of life. Among the topics he suggested addressing were: the
relationship between irritable bowel syndrome and smoking, the link between
smoking and the possibility of ectopic pregnancy, the relationship between
smoking and lung cancer, the relationship between smoking and increased blood
sugar levels, the effect of smoking on increasing heart rate, and many other
more serious matters.
Dramatic
Topics
At the end of the book, the author stressed the importance of involving drama
to combat smoking. He proposed many dramatic works and scenarios that could
have a positive impact in this regard, such as: a dramatic treatment of the
issue “The state profits billions from tobacco and spends it on treating its
victims”; an artistic treatment of the topic “How Norway succeeded in
eliminating cigarette use and smoking addiction”; and an artistic treatment
of the topic “The latest scientific methods that help you quit smoking”,
in addition to many dramatic works presented between the lines of the book.
