Danger Alarm!

When the Prophetic Sirah drifts away from
our curricula, our gatherings, and our daily conversations, the warm thread
that ties the Muslim to his roots begins to weaken, little by little, until it
becomes too fragile to carry his heart toward the true essence of Islam.
Sirah: More Than History
The Sirah is not merely a collection of
historical stories told in limited lessons or seasonal occasions. It is the
living memory of the Ummah, the practical model
in which the Qur’an was embodied, and the mirror in which a Muslim sees his
true self. When we reduce its teaching or confine it to scattered events, we,
in reality, deprive the new generation of the chance to know how the Prophet (peace
be upon him) thought, interacted, endured, triumphed,
comforted, and led.
A child who does not grow up hearing about
the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) mercy, his patience, his
struggle, and his truthfulness will seek role models elsewhere — and may
find them in figures far removed from his faith and values.
Youth and Identity
And a young man whose heart and mind are
not filled with the details of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) life, who does not know how he built the generation
of the Companions, will find his identity shaped by fleeting cultures and
fragile personalities, gradually losing clarity of direction.
Even the elder, when his bond with the Sirah
weakens, may find his spiritual memory has lost its fuel, and the fire of faith
that once burned within him is no longer the same.
Detachment Does Not Happen Overnight
This detachment between the Muslim and his
roots does not occur suddenly. It begins when the practical model of Islam
fades from his life, and religion becomes to him nothing more than fragmented
rituals without spirit.
When the Sirah of the Prophet (peace
be upon him) does not appear in his daily details — in
how he treats his family and neighbors, in how he views trials and blessings —
he remains a Muslim in name, but the deep identity that grants steadfastness
and resilience against deviations and fluctuations remains absent.
Reviving Sirah
Teaching the Prophetic Sirah is not an
intellectual luxury nor a secondary branch of Islamic culture. It is the very
foundation of identity, the planting of belonging, and the bond that ties the
Ummah to its first leader (peace be upon him). The more we revive its presence in schools, homes,
and gatherings, and the more we make it part of our daily conversations, the
more we ensure that the roots remain strong, the identity alive, and that our
hearts and our children’s hearts remain connected to the one who was a mercy to
the worlds.
