Cruel Farce Amidst Suffering
“International Day of Cooperation" Lie… Amidst War on Gaza
On July 5th, the world celebrates what is called the "International Day of Cooperation," with resonant slogans speaking of justice, cooperation, and the unity of human destiny. However, in today's reality, especially with the ongoing Zionist aggression on Gaza, this occasion appears to be nothing more than a hollow lie, signifying only a cover-up for the hypocrisy of the international community.
Since October 2023, the people of Gaza have been living
through one of the bloodiest wars in modern history, amidst a complete
international silence and clear complicity from major powers. These powers, who
champion human rights principles day and night, then either politically and
militarily support the occupation or remain silent out of cowardice and fear of
losing their interests.
Selective and Hypocritical
Solidarity
Talk of "international cooperation" becomes absurd
when major powers stand silent or are complicit in the massacres committed
against civilians—children, women, elderly, and men—in Gaza. Since the eruption
of the Zionist aggression, the number of martyrs has exceeded tens of
thousands, and hospitals, schools, mosques, and infrastructure have been
destroyed. Yet, all we have heard are cold statements speaking of "deep
concern," "condemnation," and "calls for de-escalation"
without any actual movement to stop the aggression. This raises the question:
where is this "international cooperation" when entire families are
annihilated under the rubble?
Where is it when aid is cut off, hospitals are targeted, and
over two million people are besieged in a tiny enclave without food, water,
electricity, or medicine? The truth is that the world, as it is today, does not
want to stop the Gaza war. Because, in its understanding, justice is selective,
and humanity is measured by the victim's nationality and passport color.
Double Standards and Conscience
What is happening in Gaza today clearly exposes the
international hypocrisy regarding international cooperation and human rights.
Voices are raised loudly on certain occasions in defense of peoples, while they
remain silent or justify actions when the victims are from Gaza, as if their
blood is less valuable or their suffering does not deserve attention.
This shameful international silence regarding the bombing,
destruction, forced displacement, and daily violations against unarmed
civilians in Gaza, including children and women, reveals the collapse of the
principles claimed by international institutions. It compels us to reconsider
the usefulness of those systems that were supposedly established to protect
justice and humanity. The issue is no longer just a matter of Palestine; it has
become a mirror reflecting the double standards of the global conscience,
putting peoples before one choice: to be a voice for truth and justice when
governments remain silent.
What is happening in Gaza also reveals double standards. While
international organizations and Western governments move swiftly in other
crises (when the victims are from certain countries), they are found to be
helpless or unwilling to take firm stances against the Zionist occupation. Some
even supply the Zionist war machine with weapons and political and media
support.
The United Nations... A Paralyzed
Witness
Despite reports from UN-affiliated institutions, such as UNRWA
and the World Health Organization, which document the humanitarian catastrophe
in Gaza, these organizations seem constrained and unable to stop the massacres.
The Security Council itself, which is supposed to maintain international peace,
has been unable to issue a binding ceasefire resolution due to the unjust
American veto. This unequivocally confirms the United States' alignment with
the aggressor against the victim, in a blatant challenge to the world and its
helpless international institutions, effectively telling it: "I will only
show you what I see, and there is no place on this earth except for the strong
and their allies."
Despite all this, there has been genuine solidarity from
peoples. Millions have demonstrated in world capitals in solidarity with Gaza,
and boycott campaigns and calls for accountability for war criminals have
emerged. This proves that peoples are more aware and humane than their
governments, but unfortunately, they do not hold the keys to decision-making.
Shameful Silence... and Systematic
Betrayal
The "International Day of Cooperation" no longer
obligates anyone to anything, nor does it convince a single child in Gaza that
the world stands with them. Instead, this day has become another false witness,
added to a long series of shameful silence and systematic betrayal. When human
rights turn into political privileges, and solidarity is measured by the color
of blood and religious identity, the International Day of Cooperation becomes
merely an annual lie promoted by the international system to beautify its
image. What is happening in Gaza today is not only genocide but also a moral
condemnation of a corrupt world order, where humanity has fallen before
political and military interests.
On the anniversary of this day, we do not demand new slogans.
Instead, we demand that free peoples shed all trust in dead institutions and
realize that true cooperation does not come from UN statements, but from fields
of awareness, from boycotts, resistance, documentation, and exposing global
hypocrisy. The continuation of this brutal aggression exposes the falsity of
international discourse and reveals the fragility of UN organizations, which
overlook a full-fledged crime being broadcast live. Thus, the "International
Day of Cooperation" transforms into an occasion to remind free peoples
that they must rely on their awareness and resistance, not on the promises of
liars.
