Resumption of the war on Gaza and illusions of the final liquidation of the Gaza Strip

By Dr. Mustafa Hassanein Nassar April 25, 2025 61

Since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect, the dust of battle has cleared to reveal a different kind of conflict; battles, or rather political conspiracies, from the Zionists and their supporters, aimed at completely liquidating Gaza through methods that are all more bitter and harmful than the last. All of these are merely criminal attempts to achieve through conspiracies what the heroic feats of the fighters have thwarted from being accomplished with the firepower of the Merkava tank, which the fighters have destroyed, undermined its prestige, and dragged its name through the mud of defeat.

Then, unexpectedly, and despite our fighters' commitment to the ceasefire agreement—out of a moral obligation to the covenant and not because of weakness—the Zionist enemy resumed its war on Gaza a few days ago. This prompted us to review their media to understand their objectives for resuming the war.

We start with the famous news site "Walla," which published a report about the government's resumption of the war; it stated: "The government decided to renew the war on the eve of the resurgence of popular protests against it due to its efforts to reinforce the legal coup and harm democratic institutions. The 'Israeli' government had never intended to fully implement the ceasefire agreement signed in the final week of the Biden administration, but it violated it more than expected

On his part, Oded Ilam, a researcher at the "Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and Security," wrote: "The decision to resume fighting came unanimously on both the political and security levels, indicating its strategic importance. Now the 'Israeli' public is required to demonstrate unity and solidarity, while avoiding divisive political rhetoric that could weaken the impact of this step and reinforce 'Hamas's' demands on the international stage.

"Israel" will not be dragged into the temporal trap of "Hamas," nor will it allow them to set the rules of the game. Instead, it will break the typical behavior, act according to its own timing, and redefine its conditions. There is reason to believe that this step will bring "Hamas" to the negotiation table, with the understanding that the rules of the game have changed. As Napoleon Bonaparte said, "A sudden and painful blow is better than a hundred useless conversations.

In the same context, Shay Levi wrote: "The army says the goal is to pressure 'Hamas' after it rejected all offers to release the hostages, clarifying that the attack will continue as long as necessary and will expand beyond air operations. Security sources conveyed a message this morning stating that 'Israel' is returning to negotiations under fire, and if 'Hamas' wants to return to a ceasefire, it must release the hostages.

Levy continues, saying: "The complex operation carried out by the Air Force, military intelligence, and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) aimed at surprising, alongside increasing the chances of eliminating as many terrorists as possible, especially the field commanders of the brigades and battalions that have been restructured, as well as prominent figures in the terrorist organization, particularly in the political wing and the units responsible for governance mechanisms in Hamas.

He then adds: "In all the briefings provided by the army and the security system, they emphasize that the goal is to exert severe pressure on 'Hamas' to return to the agreement, but at the official level, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense declare that they have instructed the army to work towards completely defeating Hamas," as defined by the political level in the original goals of the war.

The "Calcalist" website reported on the same matter, stating: "The office of the Israeli Prime Minister announced this evening (Monday to Tuesday) that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the Israel Defense Forces to take strong action against the terrorist organization 'Hamas' in the Gaza Strip, after it repeatedly refused to release our hostages and rejected all proposals received from U.S. President's envoy Steve Weitzman and intermediaries. In the meantime, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the approval of the Attorney General's office, requested to cancel his testimony today in thousands of cases he is accused in, due to the sudden airstrike against 'Hamas' in the Gaza Strip. The judges approved Netanyahu's request, and the session was canceled.

The report concluded with this telling news: "At the same time, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated to Fox News that the Trump administration and the White House had received a briefing from 'Israel' regarding the renewed fighting in the Gaza Strip. Levitt said: Trump made it clear that 'Hamas', 'the Houthis', and Iran, and anyone who seeks to commit terrorism not only against 'Israel' but also against the United States, will pay the price." She added: "The gates of hell will be opened wide. All terrorists in the Middle East should take Trump seriously; he is not afraid to stand by our ally, Israel.

The claim that Netanyahu resumed the war to delay his court appearance; while this approach is not unexpected from a person like him, it alone is not sufficient to explain the resumption of a war that lost its first round, making its eventual loss likely. A sufficient response to all these maneuvers is what the "Walla" website reported, stating that the "Israeli" government never intended to implement the ceasefire agreement that was signed! Thus, there are other motives that the Zionist enemy does not wish to disclose; and below is an exploration of their true nature.

Historically, what we know about the Zionist enemy's mentality, and through a careful analysis of the course of events and the nature of the movements—especially their plans that they have clearly expressed to eliminate the entire sector through emptying it of its inhabitants, or through other similar methods—we can say that the enemy's resumption of its war on Gaza, in the context of the events we all know, does not stray from two reasons:

Either the Zionists, after realizing their inability to break the will of the fighters and dismantle their military arms, and after believing that they had prepared public opinion, both Arab and international, in their view, to settle the entire issue of Gaza through their displacement abroad, or through other solutions, we say: either because of this or that, they have launched a ferocious war to impose the solution they have chosen on the people of the Gaza Strip by force; under the blaze of fires and the machinery of destruction that does not differentiate between stone and human.

Either they have realized that neither they nor their supporters can achieve their goals of liquidating the sector in the current phase, and that there is no way but a temporary deceptive calming; until the appropriate circumstances arise to implement it or to search for other methods to put it into action; however, the aggressor, with their false and sinful pride and arrogance, refuses to let their cannons be the last to fall silent. Moreover, their silence will likely come as a result of pleas and efforts that may be made in the coming days.
