Exploring the fractures and disputes within the Zionist entity

By Dr. Khalid Said April 16, 2025 125

The former president of the "Israeli" Supreme Court, Aharon Barak, has stirred controversy both within the Zionist entity and beyond in the past few weeks when he openly expressed his deep fear that his country might enter a state of bloodshed and slide into civil war due to the worsening internal divisions.

On March 20th, "Channel 12" conducted an interview with Barak, during which he confirmed that the main problem facing "Israeli" society is the eighth front (a clear reference to the seven fronts that "Israel" is said to be fighting as claimed by Netanyahu); it is the sharp divide among "Israelis" themselves. This conflict is escalating and becoming more intense, expressing his fear that the end of this severe fracture could be like a train that has derailed, plunging into the abyss, and leading to a civil war.

There is a bloodshed, and 'Israel' has crossed some red lines," which is the same statement quoted by the newspaper 'Yedioth Ahronoth' the next day (March 21), suggesting that the Zionist entity is on the brink of a civil war. The rift within the 'Israeli' nation is massive, and no effort is being made to mend the divide; instead, everyone is trying to escalate it. He cited the example of hundreds of thousands of 'Israelis' protesting against Netanyahu's government, and then someone comes along and attempts to run over some of those protesters, warning that there will be bloodshed afterward because his country has crossed some red lines.

Interestingly, Netanyahu's government immediately responded to Barak's serious statements, as Gideon Sa'ar, the Foreign Minister, posted an important and serious tweet consisting of a single sentence: "There will be no civil war," on March 20, as if he were indirectly replying to Barak without mentioning him.

Some are stirring up that war.

Afterwards, the "Israeli" President Isaac Herzog stated to the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" that he rejects sliding into civil war, bloodshed, and internal strife, noting that he is working to preserve the state of "Israel" and to avoid turning internal disagreements into civil war, despite admitting that there are those who provoke such a war!

The newspaper "Ma'ariv" reported that one of the officials of the ruling Likud party commented on this matter, stating that there will be no civil war, as war requires two sides. He emphasized that they will not raise their hands against their brothers and that they will never fight them, arguing that the time calls for confronting the enemy in front of them, represented by "Hamas," rather than internal factions fighting among themselves.

Opposition to the government's protection project...

Statements by Barak, Saar, or Herzog came against the backdrop of Netanyahu's decision to dismiss Ronen Bar, the head of the "Shin Bet" security agency, and his intention to remove Gali Bahariv Meara, the government's legal advisor, whom some consider the person that the Israeli Prime Minister fears due to her repeated opposition to Netanyahu's right-wing and extremist measures. This began in 2023 with her opposition to the judicial reforms proposed by Justice Minister Yariv Levin and the freezing that same year of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's decision to dismiss the Tel Aviv District Commander, Ami Eshed, in addition to her opposition to the project to solidify the government's power.

It is clear that there is no chemistry between Netanyahu and the legal adviser, Gali Behariv. On February 18, 2024, supporters of the Israeli Prime Minister displayed a banner against Behariv on a bridge above Ayalon Street in Tel Aviv, which read: "In case of Netanyahu's assassination, the responsibility will fall on her," and "His (Netanyahu's) blood is on your hands" (Behariv).

Deepening disagreements between Netanyahu and the "Shin Bet"

The increase in internal disputes clearly indicates the nature of the deeper conflict between the far-right led by Netanyahu and the security institutions of the state that are trying to maintain their independence. As a result of the ongoing disagreements between Netanyahu and other "Israeli" officials, especially Bar, 300 former senior "Israeli" police officers sent a letter to its chief, Dani Levy, urging him to act in accordance with the law without political directives regarding the dismissal of the head of the " Shin Bet." This occurred on the first of this month, stating that Levy remains silent about the events taking place in "Israel," which undermines the foundations of the police and harms public trust.

The message comes in clear opposition to Netanyahu's policies, not only towards their former workplace " Shin Bet," but in general, especially as there are increasing political voices rejecting what the Israeli Prime Minister is doing in sowing division and fragmentation among the layers and segments of "Israeli" society as a whole.

A survey reveals the state of confusion prevailing in the entity.

Immediately following this message and in light of Barak's dangerous statements, the "Seventh Hebrew Channel" conducted a public opinion poll on April 4, revealing that 60% of "Israelis" fear the occurrence of a civil war, with 33% feeling that there is a real threat present in their country due to the prevailing state of confusion within the Zionist entity, as well as the internal conflicts, struggles, and fragmentation that are spreading throughout society.

It is certain that the results of this survey reflect the true reality within the entity, and perhaps what confirms this are the disagreements that arise from time to time within the ruling authority in "Tel Aviv." The most notable of these occurred on March 23, when there was a verbal exchange and physical altercation between Itamar Ben Gvir, the Minister of National Security, and Ronen Bar, the former head of the "Shin Bet," during a meeting of the "Israeli Cabinet," following disputes that erupted between them regarding the results of the investigation into the events of October 7, 2023.

The rabbis' refusal to enlist in the army

It is the process that has intensified internal conflicts. On April 1st of this year, demonstrations took place outside the Knesset in occupied Jerusalem, demanding equality in military service among "Israeli" citizens. This was in opposition to the protesters who reject the exemption of Haredim from the army; simultaneously, thousands of young people and Haredi rabbis took to the streets to demonstrate and protest against their inclusion in the army, reflecting a clear internal strife among different segments of Israeli society.

The rivalry that prompted Netanyahu, on more than one occasion, to state that there would be no civil war is a response to internal "Israeli" demands for his dismissal due to the state of division and the deepening social rift, along with the clear political polarization and disputes over fundamental and essential contentious issues. This movement is led by opposition leader Yair Lapid, the head of the National Unity Party Benny Gantz, and Yair Golan, leader of the Democratic Bloc, along with the leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, Avigdor Lieberman.

The Al-Aqsa Flood" is a major reason for deepening the "Israeli" disputes.

Interestingly, the Hebrew newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" published, on February 5, 2025, an extensive report in which it confirmed that the file of the "Israeli" prisoners and hostages held by "Hamas" in Gaza is a major reason for deepening the divide within Israeli society.

Many Israeli writings confirm that the gap is widening between different groups and classes of Zionist society on one hand, and between the Haredim and secular individuals on the other hand, as well as between those supporting the cessation of the war on Gaza and the recovery of POWS from Hamas's grip, and those backing Netanyahu in the ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on a third front. However, Netanyahu himself is the one who fuels these disagreements due to his increasingly fierce racist and right-wing policies, which deepen these internal divisions.
