Grandmother of 18 Grandchildren... Turkish Woman Takes University Entrance Exam

An 84-year-old Turkish woman in Ordu province took the university entrance exam on Saturday, after learning to read and write and progressing through educational stages in recent years.

Güneş Önürme enrolled at a public education center in the Mesudiye district of Ordu in 2013 with the goal of learning to read and write. She then advanced through educational stages obtaining her high school diploma last January.

Önürme, a grandmother of 18 grandchildren, told Anadolu Agency that she left school in her childhood but later decided to complete her education and relearn reading and writing in 2013.

She added that she then made up her mind and set her sights on taking the university entrance exams, achieving her ambition today.

She mentioned that she dreams of enrolling in the Faculty of Fine Arts due to her great interest in this field.

She also urged all young people to read and study, adding that she has become a source of inspiration for many young people in the region, with some of them returning to school.
